Just set your rev light to 5k and know if you see it you won’t have long to shift before you hit the limiter. The STi is a robust car, the tranny and motor can take a beating but that doesn’t mean people don’t push it too far with mods or stupidity. Just treat it like it’s your pride and joy and you’ll have no problems.

I think the stock limiter is at 6900 rpms but on stock STi’s it is not worth it to increase it any further because the stock turbo runs out of breath up there (your power is actually dropping).

16/01/2010 · The rev limiter is the actual mechanism that cuts fuel/spark (I think) at a certain rpm and SHOULD NOT BE changed without going to the tuner. I think the stock limiter is at 6900 rpms but on stock STi’s it is not worth it to increase it any further because the stock turbo runs out of breath up there (your power is actually dropping).

I would never touch speeds like that on a stock handling set up though. I ran out of open straight-away so I couldn’t tell you if the limiter kicks in there like Noypi09 says he read or not.

Just set your rev light to 5k and know if you see it you won’t have long to shift before you hit the limiter. The STi is a robust car, the tranny and motor can take a beating but that doesn’t mean people don’t push it too far with mods or stupidity.
